There is something so satisfying about opening up the classic Microsoft Paint, selecting the "Paint Bucket" tool, and creating something from scratch.
Today, I decided to take a break from complex apps and go back to basics. I drew everyone’s favorite Pokรฉmon, Pikachu, using only the default tools in Windows Paint.
No layers. No filters. Just pixels.
๐จ How I Did It (The Process)
If you want to try this yourself, here are the tools I used:
The Head: I used the Ellipse Tool (Circle shape) to get that perfect round face.
The Ears: I used the Curve Tool. This is the secret weapon in MS Paint! You draw a straight line, and then you can drag it in two places to curve it perfectly.
The Cheeks: Another set of perfect circles using the Ellipse tool, filled with bright red.
The Coloring: The classic Fill Bucket. (Tip: Make sure your lines are fully closed, or the color will leak everywhere!)
๐ฑ️ My Secret Weapon
A lot of people ask how I get smooth lines in MS Paint without a drawing tablet.
The truth? It’s all about having a mouse with a good sensor. If your mouse is cheap or old, the cursor will "jitter" and make your drawing look shaky.
I used the Redragon M910-KS for this. It has a high DPI sensor that lets me move the cursor very slowly and precisely, which is crucial when you are clicking pixel-by-pixel.
(Note: You don't need an expensive tablet! A $30 gaming mouse is actually better for MS Paint than a trackpad.)

You don't need to pay for a Photoshop subscription. Open up Paint, grab a decent mouse, and just start clicking.
